Stroke rate
The Stroke Rate screen is usually displayed in conjunction with the Stroke Rate Studio screen. It shows the rate at which the participant is rowing, expressed in strokes per minute. If the pace (with a margin of 1 stroke per minute) is equal to the pace prescribed in the workout, the balloon will turn green. If the stroke rate is too low, the text “speed up” will appear; if the stroke rate is too high, the text “slow down” will appear.
Tips
- The challenge, of course, is that everyone’s balloon is colored green all the time. This can be achieved by rowing along as a trainer and clearly marking the catch and/or finish of each rowing stroke or by counting.
- It can work well to name a participant who has a good, steady pace (and can be seen well by the others) as “Rhythm Master.” Everyone follows him/her! Alternatively, participants can be advised to follow their neighbor.
